Over the past few years, Montana TheatreWorks has had great success with productions such as The Sound of Music, Annie, Damn Yankees, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma!, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Anything Goes and Oliver! As of July 2004, over 46,250 people have enjoyed an MTW show, including audiences in Butte, Billings and at the annual summer Sweet Pea Festival in Bozeman, Montana.

Do you have a question? Do you want to know who wrote the music for Guys and Dolls? Ever wonder why upstage is called upstage? Is it true that it's bad luck to say the word Macbeth backstage? Or maybe you just have a question about MTW. Feel free to email us and we'll get back to you just as fast as we can.

Would you like to receive advance notice for future productions and have access to ticket sales before the general public? Eleven years ago the idea of presenting quality theatrical productions at an affordable price to the Bozeman community inspired the birth of Montana TheatreWorks. Since the curtain went up on our maiden show in June of 1995, the majority of tickets for all productions have never cost more than $10.00 ($5.00 for kids!) and over 46,000 people have attended an MTW production.

If we were to point to one thing that makes us most proud, it is that the world of theatre has been made available to Gallatin Valley families; that is, regular folks have been able to enjoy quality live theatrical events without breaking their bank accounts. It is no secret that a majority of the valley lives on modest incomes. MTW's thinking has always been "A community theatre needs to do everything in its power to present its shows at an affordable price, or it is not truly servicing the entire community."

Recent successes have included the Pulitzer Prize winning comedy You Can't Take it With You, a presentation of a live radio broadcast of the inspirational It's A Wonderful Life and over 5,000 people attending the family favorite The Sound of Music. Across the country, the average attendance of a theatrical event, in big city or small town, is about two percent of the population, so we could not be happier with our numbers.

Each MTW production also allows several community members to take part in a process that strives to replicate professional theatre. Cast members work closely with highly-skilled musical directors, vocal coaches, choreographers, musicians and stage directors to hone their performances skills. Meanwhile, a small army of backstage crew members work with a professional stage manager in a team effort that results in not just a terrific production, but a great sense of accomplishment for everyone involved. Another great benefit is meeting new people and often making lifelong friends.
